So, what exactly is web development?

With there being so many aspects to the internet, it is a challenge at first when it comes to knowing the processes of who does what that makes the internet function as a whole. You’ve got Software Developers, Web Designers, Web Developers, and UX/UI Designers; then there are Network Technicians, Database Developers, and IT Managers, and the list just goes on and on. It really does take quite some time to understand each role that the developer and designer performs.

Though the internet was created to aid the military it quickly became useful to civilians thanks in-part to Tim Berners-Lee, a British scientist at CERN, who created the world wide web.

Here I focus of Web Development and its role in internet function.

The Break-Down

As a Web Developer you’re able to run, test, design, and collaborate on the creation of web pages and for some developers even create applications. Without that initial web page the user wouldn’t be able to use the internet program as a whole. And we all know this is vital to internet use. The web page is the outcome of the tremendous code that is used; the great work at its finest upon completion. From there you could go further into the functionality of the page but in this post I will focus on the initial page its self.

Just as all the careers that govern the internet, this is a great career as well. Web Developers have the opportunity to provide an important user interaction experience that represents the individual or business from the perspective of there website. Web Developers can also create applications that individuals or business can use that provide the same experience but in an application format.

There are many factors to consider when one wants a web site; there’s security, usability, and overall style to name a few, web developers mainly focus on the Front-End user experience which includes the layout and user experience. Then there’s the Back-End programming that in-tells the code that is needed to make the web pages function.

A list of skills needed

To be able to create such works a Web Developer needs set skills. These skills include:

• ASP.NET
• VB.Net
• C, C#, C++
• .NET
• HTML & CSS
• JavaScript
• Java
• PHP
• MYSQL/SQL

to name a few. These skills vary greatly and depend on the developer and what it is they choose to do with their web developer career. Many developers find themselves working with a multitude of programs and find that they acquire many different skills that include:

• Ruby
• Linux
• Window and/or Mac
• SharePoint
• J Query
• Bootstrap

and so on. Again with these extra skill sets a developer greatly expands their abilities.

In conclusion, as a Web Developer for me this is the coolest career. One can really be creative as to the website as a whole and can truly be a programmer of the Matrix.
